I have a Western Digital drive with a fried PCB.
I have a replacement PCB which has been confirmed to be a close enough match to work for multiple people.

I have no soldering iron/heat gun, or enough soldering experience to remove and replace the surface mounted ROM chip without fear of frying it too.
(I've looked into buying the appropriate equipment, but just not confident I can do it myself)

I live in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and I've contacted more than a dozen "computer repair stores" in the area, but can't find a single one that can do surface-mount soldering. Every single store i contacted advertised "data recovery", but none of them really do anything more than replacing video cards and running antivirus.
There don't appear to be any general electronic repair stores in the area.

Is there an experienced company I can send my PCBs to and have the replace the chip for less than $1000? (This is what one computer repair store quoted me for "sending it off")

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

You make it look so simple!

Thanks for the offer, but I don't want to send it all the way to china. Smile

Your local TV/AV repair shop may be able to do it.

See this thread:

Most computer "technicians" are board jockeys. Many wouldn't know which end of a soldering iron is hot. :-)

Unfortunately, there are no electronics repair stores near me. No real ones anyway. Sad
