Hello:

I had bought this white label HDD 500GB that has served me well for some time. One day, after installing windows 7, my harddrive just stopped being recognized by my machine. I tried other machines via USB and nothing.

I took off the logic board to see if any markings can indicate what kind of harddrive this was and i found that it was a Western Digital... i am assuming the WD5000SK .. im unsure which one exactly...

The logic board had the following printed: 2060-701383-001 REV P1

The hard drive itself has an imprint: 2063-702673. TB6PT is on the following line. Rev A

Pictures of the WD5000SK look just like mine.

Question is... what can i do to make this drive work again.. When i plug into computer bios sees the drive as WL500GSA1672... Is there a way i can flash the logic board to original settings? I don't hear any noises when the drive spins. Just a healthy hum.

Any help to recover my family pictures would be appreciated.

Your problem is not a PCB.
Unfortunately, You have to find a pro to handle such problem in WD drive.

I don't understand? The harddrive sounds healthy it hasn't been dropped.. it just stopped being recognized in windows. Why do i need to resort to a specialist?

Now why would anyone use a sub branded item when it comes to hard drives. Try going for Seagate of WD. But then if you have a dead hard drive and now you want your data, its not difficult. You actualy never really delete the data or the data is never destroyed. It is just moved to a different node. So just go to a Computer service center, and ask them to extract the data. Note: They ll get any sensitive information that you have. Best Schools in Oman

This information is actually 100% WRONG!!!

I know you're just spamming a link, but you make your company look like morons posting stupid statements like this that are totally wrong.
