I'm not sure what's wrong with my drive but it stopped spinning up after a power surge. It's a WD Caviar WD2500JB - 00REA0.

Check this sound clip to hear the noise it makes when I plug it into a power source. The noise is coming from spot near the IDE connector and it will not spin up.

Any idea what this could be? Perhaps bad PCB not triggering spin up? I'm guessing it's NOT the motor since it not coming from the spindle area. |

				| it started happening after a power surge. I think it's a problem with the actuator. The arm attempts to move but will not. The arm will not reposition to the parked position. I was thinking about replacing the pcb. I guess it's worth a shot before I send it off to a recovery shop. |

				Hi!

It is seems like your heads stuck on a surface of the disk.

New PCB won't help in this case.

You need a recovery service.

Shop around for a good price. _________________ www.datarecoveryne.com |
