Hello, I found a good match for my Seagate Barracuda 320GB (ST3320620AS) but the Site code is different. I have SU and the other drive had TK. Also my drive is a product of China and the other drive is Product of Thailand.

My Drive:
ST3320620AS
P/N: 98J14G-308
Firmware: 3.AAK
Site Code: SU
Product of China

The drive I'm about to buy:
ST3320620AS
P/N 98J14G-308
Firmware: 3.AAK
Site Code: TK
Product of Thailand

How important is the production area? Could this work for recovering my drive? Should I go for it and give it a try nevertheless, it looks quite promising at least?

Yeah thanks for responses.. i solved the problem by removing the fried TVS diode that caused the drive to be short circuited. After removing I got the drive working and was able to save the files.. now I try to send it to warranty.

All I can say is check to see if it was re-certified or make sure it has the LSI chipset on thelogic board (if indeed that is what your original has). I have purchased 6 drives including one that has all the matching info but was re-cert that used different board.

There is no need of matching chipsets.
Besides PCB's drive often have damages inside a drive.

Production site and site code is the same thing and could play a big role.
