Hello clever guys.
I've got Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA which suddenly just stopped working. I haven't touched it or anything, it just dissapeared one day and I only noticed a week or so later. If it is plugged in it takes ages for computer to boot up, and when it boots up, there is no sighn of that disk. I tried on another computer - the same. It is not detected by BIOS as well, not on my computer, not on another. Tried different cables as well. There is no visible damage on the PCB. I can hear the disk spinning, and there is no clicking sound in it. Actually there is only spinning sound inside, I am not sure wether the reading arm operates.
It was as a slave drive, no OS on it, only one partition.
Can anyone HELP me please, has anyone any IDEAS what should i try to do?
Seagate BArracuda 7200.10

Site code WU
Any advice much appreciated.

I wish I could do that. I tried a couple things, but I can not recover the data, because the disk isn't detected. Any advice on repair part?

Obviously, your problem is likely to damage of sensitive information storage. Unfortunately, I doubt that you will be able to make your preferences proprietary information. If you need data, I think you should contact the companies involved in the restoration of information.

Ye, I know what you mean, but the thing is I don't wanna pay 1000$ or even more for the data restoration, and this is the reason I think why this site exists, to share the problems and help each other out. And the data is not worth the money they gonna charge me, so I want to get it back myself. And the other thing is if the BIOS doesn't see my hard drive is there anytyhing else which could detect it? I used seatools and some other programs to see whether any of them can detect it, but none of them could, so I suppose a recovery program won't do anything, because it just won't see the drive...

No guys still no luck, all I managed to get is that these particular series of hard disks aren't so reliable and coating comes off winchester or firmware does smthng. Data recovery is around 90%, but that obviuosly costs a fortune. STILL LOOKING FOR ANY ADVICE OR SOLUTION!!!!!!

I have a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB SATA, and I have the same problem.

bios won't detect the hdd, but the hdd is spinning/vibrating.

I opened up my case, and I notice my 500GB hdd is spinning faster than my other hdd that is working in another computer.

I've tried connecting the bad hdd to a working computer, but it won't detect it either in the bios or at boot.

Is it dead? Should I get a SATA external case for the 500GB hdd to test? That way it wouldn't need to boot up to it? And if it doesn't see the hdd, it really is dead.

I have the 320gb drive discussed here and it has stopped being detected by my motherboard. I have a MSI K9A2 Platinum mobo. I have had several problems getting drives detected during boot. For some reason this drive continues to not be seen by the bios. I can connect it to an external adapter and it functions fine, but when connected to the on-board SATA connection it is not detected. This drive has been operating for several months-probably more than a year-to this point.

Try connecting your drive to an external usb adapter and see if it functions.
