I received an email from someone called Moshe Valenci, who wrote :

i have a better dead-hard-drive recovery story.
i actually bought 4 disks on ebay, the 4th was the real experiment.
i actually removed the hard-disk head and put it in the new disk and it worked.
when i called the recovery service that offered me a fix for 800$, they could not believe it and offered me a job there - no thanks, i have one... Smile

He has since uploaded a video to youtube - see it here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9AoMeHRIPU

Most impressive Moshe!

This movie is very bad. All of the safety points was avoided.

By following this video, users will risk loosing their data or decrease chances of recovery.

I have been in the DR business for years, and I agree with hddstudio...It is a joke...people are either 1. Trying to make money selling tools OR 2. Trying to show off=get recognized for something (perhaps anything).

Real pros are like doctors....everyone else is either a hobbyist (nothing wrong with that) or a quack.

EXPERIMENT FOR ALL TO TRY: Go out and buy yourself two identical drives...for a real challenge, choose Western Digital with heads attached to lid. Swap heads and/or platters. Once you are successful, then work on your important drive with data.

Good luck. Every trainee I have had has trashed dozens before succeeding, and even then, ruined subsequent drives due to peculiarities and differences...it really is NOT easy at all.

I spend hours showing people what to do, in a class 100 environment, and some just cannot do it. PERIOD.

Analogy: You can watch videos on opened-heart surgery or watch a musician play the guitar, but it doesn't mean you can do it. Certainly not without LOTS of practice and lots of skill and knowledge. Besides, DR is a multifaceted, multidisciplined field. You really have to have a working knowledge of many different things to do it well.

Good luck to all.
