Why you believe your board is bad?
Do you see any burned chips?
Can you post a picture of your board?

I have read that swapping over the boards may do the trick as i have not taken it apart yet then i can’t see underneath the board the only picture I have would be of the circuit side rather than the component side.

To explain my drive I can not power it up there is no sound as no power so only thing is to try and swap logic board.
but to answer your question no I can't See anything wrong

my drive just failed...exactly the same drive so curious...
However there is power in mine as I can here it click and spin when powered...but thats it...not recognised...and no signs of burns on board...basically failed when power was cut, never came back with the power...

If anyone else got any ideas that would be great...thanks

Hi,

May I know does you HDD 1. Complete not rotate (spin) and off? or 2. Could rotate (spin) and have power, but just could not recognize the data in your computer?

If it's 1, I think you HDD may could be repaired by changing PCB. If it's 2, only change PCB is not enough. You have to find a specialist or data recovery company.

If you sure it's 1 situation, pls send me high quality picture of both side of your PCB to my email, I could help, my email: eric_lee8341@hotmail.com

Thanks.

You cannot do a straight swap of a PCB on Seagate Barracuda 11 series drive. The reason is because the ROM content is adaptive to your drive. This means that it is necessary to physically remove the ROM chip and swap it also. Unless you are good with a soldering iron don't bother - if you damage the ROM chip there will be no way of recovering your data.

All the best,
John
