Western Digital, 500 GB external hard drive. Model: WD5000AAKS-00TMA0:
Sad It would click about 5 or 6 times and then not do anything. There is power going to the drive, it appears on my PC, but does not pickup a drive letter. A friend told me to open it up, we did. Rolling Eyes The Reading arm seemed to be stuck in an outside position. We moved it back to what appeared to be the normal position. I used a couple of free utilities "Find and Mount" and "Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery". Using "Find and Mount" it saw there's a drive with 2149 MB, after that you do a scan on it to mount the volume. Crying or Very sad But it wouldn't mount. Please let me know how I can recover the data from it. Thanks [/b]

First step I would have recommended is to take it to a pro right away, but because you have opened it and tampered with it Crying or Very sad, just an attempt to recover your data will cost you big $$$ and a successful recovery, if still possible, will cost few thousand $$$. Sad
