My laptop's internal HITACHI hard drive has stopped working for some reason. My laptop can't detect it, and it keeps making a very quiet clicking noise every time I try to run it. I thought it might have been the heads, but I think it might be something deadly serious, because it sounds like something has come loose inside of the hard drive.

I have no clue what to do. I've tried the freezer solution, but it didn't work. I'm leaving it alone until I have a sure solution. I really need my files and programs back. Any help will be great.

Here's the information I found on the hard drive:

HITACHI 80GB SATA, 16 HEADS.
MODEL : HTS541680J9SA00

Again, any advice will be really helpful.

Thanks, Ash.

Your drive has either failed head/s or media damage.
Sure solution is to take it to a pro, maybe there is still a chance.
You already did everything you wasn't suppose to do, freezing, let it click for a while and probably shaking it....

There might be a chance of recovering data from your drive, but drive it self is not usable.
