I need a controller card for a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 160GB drive. The part number needs to be an exact match: 6y160p0042811

Thanks!

hi, i just posted a new thread on the success stories thread.

I also owned and killed a Maxtor DM Plus 9 6Y160P0. It has the exact same S/N as you posted.

Have you found your drive?

You can visit the thread I created; but in sum here's what I found.
S/N is not what's most important. You want the same controller IC ID's, and possibly firmware, although I have been told as long as your firmware version is same as or later than your original, it should recognize with no problems. I played safe and got one with the same firmware. I eBayed a board meant for a different size (therefore, the SN was DIFFERENT), but it works fine (as of now, before I make a drivecopy).

Also see this page: (also discovered from forums here)
http://www.softcom.com.my/maxtor_hdd_firmware.htm
see which board you need (there are only 3 kinds, apparently)

Anyway, good luck!
