I turned on my laptop a gateway and it would not load and made clicking sound like it was searching for a bootable drive . I know it was acsessing my CD rom and then it shut down and now does not even power up when you hit on button . Any ideas as to what it could be?? Should I consider it trashed?? Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

If the laptop is dead, then remove the HD and optical drive and try to power up without them.

Hi,
If your drive is clicking you can check here the possible causes for that problem and potential free/cheap solutions to get your data back: like live pcb swap etc..
