Hi!

Subject fails to be detected by BIOS and looking at PCB can be seen that largest chip has heat damage. I have identical PCB (from the same batch HDD) but swapping PCBs doesn't help. If I swap U12 ROM can I expect more success or is it waste of time?

thanks

h.

Rom Swap might be useful.

If that PCB has a U12, I would give it a try. These drives commonly have spindle driver failure. Usually in the cases I have seen the rest of the board is intact, but sometimes the damage is too great to replace the spindle driver.
