I revived an 80GB Maxtor drive by finding one with the same logic board chips on Ebay. It cost me around $120 including Torx screwdrivers, but it was better than being quoted $150 per hour with no guarantee of getting my data back at all!

Now I'm left with a brand new 80GB Maxtor with no logic board!!!!

Anyway, it can be done successfully, and if you find a similar drive on Ebay ask the seller to send a photo of the logic board close up or what the chips and serial numbers are - do not take what's written on the labels as gospel.

Thankyou Nev Cool
