hi, after searching high and low through the internet for a hardware site with enough details for me to confidently buy a drive to swap the PCB on my seagate I finally stumbled across this one, thankfully.
I bought a 320gb maxtor portable HD a while back and then one day it just stopped spinning, and the computer didn't show any signs of detecting it. I left it a long time and just recently decided to have a go at sorting it out. So I've dissembled the box and inside was a nice shiny, broken ST3320620A. I tried hooking it up to the computer the old fashioned way and the computer wouldn't even switch on, and having asked someone I am currently under the impression that the PCB is probably FUBAR (although not knowing much about the inner workings of HDs I'm no authority). Which brings me to where I am now.

Details are:
ST3320620A
P/N 9BJ04G-305
Firmware 3.AAE
Site Code TK

essentially identical to the one pictured below.

If anyone has a PCB spare I am willing to trade it for my soul.

Looks like I could be joining this conversation a bit late in the day but it's the best site I have found so far and looks like the nearest discusion I've found to a similar problem with a similar drive.
I've been landed with a 7200.10 750G drive, belongs to a workmate of mine, that has stopped working.

The drive motor starts up but I don't think it reaches full speed, it then after about 5 seconds gives a single short beep, then starts again.
Initally I thought the fault might have been with the USB interface in the Maxtor case, (the drive is out of a Maxtor 4D USB external unit), so stripped the drive out of the case and connected it via a seperate SATA - USB adaptor kit. But to no avail, motor still spins up, beeps then trys again. The USB adaptor is recognised by the PC but not the drive.

I've got a fair idea of how these drives operate but when it comes to faults like this I'm a bit out of my depth.

Drive info' that might help
Barracuda 7200.10 750Gb
S/N 5QD2YJGQ
P/N 9BJ148-568
ST5750640AS
F/ware 3.AFM
Date Code 08183
Site Code WU

There is no boot / start up data on this drive only shed loads of music (1680 albums...) some of this can probably be re-ripped but it'll take him along time.

Just wondering if anyone has come across this problem and whether it's likely to be terminal...?

Any help or info would be appreciated.

Hi,
I have the same harddrive, and it's broken as well. The harddrive just doesn't power up. Then I searched on eBay, and finally found a brand new identical firmware harddrive. Few days ago, I just swap the PCB. The harddrive finally power up, BUT the computer can't recognize it. My computer just freeze for few minutes (hooked up the drive externally), and the drive just can't be recognized.

If I hook up the drive internally, the computer just freeze there when windows is starting up.

Does anyone know what might go wrong?
Here's my information on the old and new drive:

OLD:
ST3320620AS
P/N: 9BJ14J-305
Firmware: 3.AAE
Site code: TK
Made in Thailand

NEW:
ST3320620AS
P/N: 9BJ14G-580
Firmware: 3.AAE
Site code: WU
Made in China

Is it because it's made in different country? or P/N?

Thanks

Hi,

I have myself a ST35006630A, P/N:98J046-305, firmware:3.AAE, datecode:07263, sitecode:WU

On the PCB ,
the sticker has : 100406534 F 37323EJR
on the board itself, the code written in copper track is: 2-94 V-0 0643

YRRE7 and all, please tell me if you have a more or less same datecode, and if your pcb has alike labelling. I can propose, for example, to buy a working pcb for the price of a complete drive and then send it back to you when I am done with migrating the data.

Hi, I also had posted a separate topic. I am in desperate need of a DiamondMax21. It is a Seagate-manufactured Maxtor so I think I could probably either use the Seagate or Maxtor, right? It is P/N 9DP04G-326, Firmware 3.AAE, Date Code 08201, Site Code SU, and it is labeled STM3320620A.

I have all of my important data, pictures, and email on this drive. Thanks SO much if anyone can help me!

Barracuda 7200.10
P/N: 9BJ03G-560

I've got same problem too, ... the cpu just won't boot up if the drive is connected... i'm hoping that it's just the PCB that's got fried... so any help in securing one will be appreciated.

My drive is of same specs as Arkadas (quoted) - differs only with datecode which should be immaterial.
