I have a WD2000BB hard drive MFG date 22 Apr 2004. U6 on the IDE drive board appears to be bad. It seems to be a power regulator/switcher IC. It it marked as TLE4417.
The problem is that the +12V power rail has a low impedance <200ohms compaired to a good drive which has about 1400ohms. There is a good chance I can repair the drive if I can locate a chip or another board.
Looking on the web I find the chip available in large quanties but no one sells just one.
Can anybody out there help?

Thanks Gregg

I seem to be having the same trouble.. U6 looks burnt although I haven't tested it yet! This alternative seems to have the right voltages and pinout, and you can get one offs..
