Like the dumbfuck that I am! I can't believe it! From the Recovery console in win2k, I tried to rewrite the mbr - forgetting that the disk was FAT32 but the os likes ntfs.

Now - I am running winxp on the machine, with a spanky new 80gb disk, and the old disk (after the freezer) running as primary slave, showing up in setup, in the windows device manager, but not in the directories, of course.

Testdisk is showing read errors for all cylinders, and I am NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

since the comp can't read any sectors - maybe there was no writing.

Has anyone here had experience with "dariusale HDD solutions" on ebay? They're offerring "board cloning" for $125.
