Hi all

Managed to destroy my hard disc by screwing the wrong (longer) screw back into my Dell Latitude, thus damaging the PCB. Doh! Firmware not known but drive was manufactured in December 2001.

Complete drive preferred, logic board on its own may be accepted. Buyer in UK awaits! Reply to this post if you have such a (perfectly working) drive and I should be notified automatically.

Thanks in advance,

Jon

Thank you for your topic response.

The board is not totally damaged; there are about five or six damaged printed circuits. I expect that if these could be fixed, it would be work; I've tried to solder wires using the solder pads on the board, to no avail (though I am no solderer!).

Could you provide some contact details - including a UK address - so I can learn more about your services. A website would be excellent if you have one. I shall be less than keen to send my hard disc abroad, and I would still only send it in my own country to a reputable company who could convince me that they know what they are doing (unlike me!).

I look forward to your reply.

can you post a photo up at all for us to look
the circuits on all hard drives are built cheap and crap and you need
to use a lower wattage soldering iron

or you can lift up the print
we can do a repair of most circuit board prints
but again if you blown a chip at the same too it could be a problem
it sounds you just screwed it in to tight and its made a hair line crack

thanks
