A while back I made a request for a Western Digital PCB. I found one, but when I tried to replace it, it didn't work. Before the replacement my computer would continuous beep and I couldn't even get into the BIOS. After the replacement, no beep and I could get into the BIOS, but the BIOS didn't see the drive. I started researching again and found that the firmware needs to match also. I looked on the drive and I am unable to find any place that lists the firmware version. Anybody have any ideas? Below is the original post information:

I am in need of a PCB board for a WD800EB. Additional numbers as labeled:

MDL: WD800EB-11DJF0
Date: 07 Jan 2004
DCM: HSBHCTJAH

Barcode on PCB
2061-001159-200 AE
XC 1H38 07ZB 3 0007280 4287

If you have one, please contact me and we will work out a deal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes on all Western Digital drives (and now the Seagate 7200.11) a ROM exchange is required, it's chip number U12 on the board.

Be VERY careful if you are inexperienced at wielding a soldering iron.

Also your firmware may be corrupt, but you need specialist equipment to solve this

If you have any question, just ask,
John
